LangIdent is a Markov-Model based language identifier under GPL license.

Compiling the program creates a module “idioma.o” you can link to your main program. Two executables are also created: a sample main program that ilustrates the usage of the language identifier and the program to train new models.

Comparing the Markov-Model technique to other techniques, it has the best performance. Nevertheless, the usage of this technique for language identification is not new.
